The Fuji Alconite guide is a space-age technology advanced guide as is SiC with titanium frames. The choice of guides can reduce weight and friction and when properly placed, can produce dramatic improvement in casting length and accuracy.  Torque or twisting of the rod can easily be managed with guide alignment techniques.
