I received my new LakeLady Rod and as I expected, I LOVE IT! What a beautiful creation. Thank you for the meticulous attention to detail. My fishing buddy of 20 years will be smiling from above while I carry on our tradition wih my new LakeLady Rod. Thank you so much!
Spiral Wrapped Rods
We just returned from a large show where we exhibited our custom rods. There were many questions about our spiral wrapped rods. So we thought it might be appropriate to explain what this is all about.
Spiral or Roberts Wrapped (after inventor Chuck Roberts) rods is where a conventional rod is turned into a spinning rod by transitioning the guides from the zero degree axis to the 180 degree axis in 4 guides or less. This rotation around the blank reduces torque allow the fisherman to fight larger fish without the rod twisting or turning in the hand, and greatly reduces fatigue.
Under load the conventional wrapped rod has a natural tendency to twist or torque toward the load or pressure exerted by a fighting fish. While few fishermen have had a rod flip over in their hand, many have experienced fatigue on a long fight. Many do not even realize how hard they “squeeze” the handle when fighting a fish.
There are a couple more advantages here too. Increased casting distance, while subjective, occurs. Accuracy of casting also improves. Both of these phenomenons occur due the fact that it is a straight line from the reel to the tip top when the rod is loaded. Friction is dramatically reduced, thus improving the efficiency of the rod.
